2004 FEDERAL ELECTION: THE END OF A PERFECT STORM

Toronto Arts Council Foundation launches its What Are You Doing For ArtsWeek? campaign today. ArtsWeek is a highly-inclusive annual festival that celebrates all the arts everywhere in the City of Toronto. (more)


ARTS TORONTO TRADEMARKS TO TORONTO ARTS COUNCIL FOUNDATION (TACF)

Earlier this year, Arts Toronto transferred trademarks for two of its signature programs—Toronto ArtsWeek and Toronto Arts Awards—TACF. These programs will assist TACF and the Coalition to achieve some of the objectives expressed in the Great Arts/Great City Initiative, our 10-year plan to raise awareness of the value of Toronto arts to our society. TORONTO’S ARTS SECTOR RECEIVES ENDORSEMENT THROUGH TORONTO STAR BUDGET GAME

In case you missed it, the final report on the Toronto Star You Be the Budget Chief game found that arts funding is one of the most popular choices among women and Toronto renters. (more)


IN THE FRONTLINES – STEAM WHISTLE BREWING

It seems that every time you go to an art festival or special event, Steam Whistle Brewing is there serving up its beer. This presence is part of its grass roots marketing strategy where the beer company offers arts groups free product in exchange for sponsorship awareness.

As we’ll see in this conversation with Matt Wyatt, Promotions Manager at Steam Whistle, the relationship with Toronto’s arts scene goes a bit deeper for the Brewery than simple smart marketing. (more)


SOLUTIONS – MARCH GREGOROFF OF ARTISTS’ NETWORK OF RIVERDALE

March Gregoroff does not take “no” for an answer, at least when it comes to her career as artist and the careers of her colleagues. Faced with limited services and opportunities available to visual artists in Toronto, March decided to spearhead the Artists’ Network of Riverdale to develop a breadth of the kind of services and opportunities she wanted to see. About to officially launch the Network, she met with us at Hangman Gallery on Queen East to tell us all about it. (more)
