WHAT ARE YOU DOING FOR ARTSWEEK?

Toronto Arts Council Foundation launches its What Are You Doing For ArtsWeek? campaign today. ArtsWeek is a highly-inclusive annual festival that celebrates all the arts everywhere in the City of Toronto.

Toronto Arts Council Foundation recently acquired ArtsWeek from Arts Toronto and the festival fits perfectly with the Foundation's mandate of Great Arts/Great City – generating awareness of the local art scene and greater consumer spending on the arts. ArtsWeek will attract a million people from the local community and through tourism by showcasing the arts to media and consumers alike – at the start of the fall performance and exhibition season. Visitors will have access to a breadth of presenting venues including concert halls, theatres, galleries, museums, artist studios and a number of festivals – in parks, campuses, neighbourhoods and retail environments.

Mayor David Miller has proclaimed ArtsWeek 2004 an official City event and will host a gigantic public kick-off event at Nathan Phillips Square on September 23. This year is the inauguration of two exciting initiatives; the What Are You Doing For ArtsWeek? campaign and the official ArtsWeek Passport will be important, wide reaching web-based and print promotional tools.

What Are You Doing For ArtsWeek? will feature celebrities, artists, entrepreneurs, restaurateurs, educators, neighbours and friends proclaiming what they are doing to mark the occasion of ArtsWeek 2004.

The Passport will feature valuable editorial about ArtsWeek and a chance to win one of a number of high value prizes on twelve beautifully printed panels.

ArtsWeek 2004 will take place September 23 to October 3 but you can get started right now by visiting www.ArtsWeek.ca and telling us how you'll celebrate the arts in Toronto.

So ... What Are You Doing For ArtsWeek?
