An Art-filled New Year’s Resolution: 50 for 50

From theatre and concerts to galleries and poetry readings, a year of celebrating Toronto Arts awaits.

Start the new year celebrating Toronto Arts by taking part in the Canada Council’s 50th anniversary celebration: “50 for 50” Arts Challenge. Over the course of the year you are encouraged to participate in 50 arts activities, keeping a record of everything you do, and sharing your experiences with the Canada Council.

Participants in the challenge are encouraged to tell the Canada Council about their experiences by e-mail at 50@canadacouncil.ca, or by writing to The “50 for 50” Arts Challenge, Canada Council for the Arts, 350 Albert St, P.O. Box 1047, Ottawa, ON K1P 5V8. Highlights will be posted on the Council’s web site.

Let’s get Toronto Arts on the map! Let’s share our rich and vibrant cultural community with the rest of Canada. I invite every coalition member to get involved—go to the theatre or concert hall, visit a gallery, read a book by a local author, take a pottery class or volunteer your time with an arts organization. Better yet, make a pact with a friend to enjoy the arts together—one event a week for the remainder of the calendar year.

What 5 art activities will be on your list for February? For some helpful suggestions please visit Toronto Arts On-line listings at www.torontoartsonline.org or www.livewithculture.ca
