at the Mayor’s Giant ArtsWeek 2004 Kickoff at Nathan

ARTSWEEK: WHAT IS IT?
In January, Toronto Arts Council Foundation acquired the
ArtsWeek trademark and set out to create an annual, signature
event to better promote the national treasure that is Toronto’s
arts sector.
ArtsWeek 2004 (September 23 – October 3) is a big
first step toward achieving this vital objective. Attendance
at hundreds of events in hundreds of places in every part
of the City is expected to exceed 1 million.(More)

DOUBLE OUR MONEY
We seldom ask Coalition members to contribute cash toward
Coalition programs. However, we have been offered a golden
opportunity. Ontario Cultural Attractions Fund (OCAF) has
pledged, until October 4, to match every new dollar we can
raise in support of ArtsWeek 2004. OCAF will double our

ARTS MEDIA COVERAGE SPOTLIGHTED AT FRINGE
FEST TENT TALKS
Should media feel any obligation to cover arts events
and issues? Could the arts sector send better messages?
A better way? How can we encourage greater quality and quantity
of arts coverage by the media? These questions sparked lively
discussion at a panel discussion: Under the Radar: Where
are Toronto arts in local media? presented by Toronto Arts
Coalition on July 8 at the Toronto Fringe Festival tent
at the TRANZAC Club. (More)
