1. What role do the arts play in your life?
A very important part! I attend theatre and concerts regularly and sing in my church choir.

2. What role do the arts play in keeping people healthy?
The arts are an important re-creational force in the community. They provide adults with a way to relieve the stress in their lives, and provide children and youth with creative outlets for their energy.

3. Why is it important that Toronto have a healthy arts sector?
The quality of life in our city is greatly enhanced by the availability of the arts. They are very important for tourism and the economy.

4. Does your party believe that Canadian content and ownership should be protected in our broadcasting industry?
Yes.

5. Our artists help make our society prosperous, yet many of them work and live in relative poverty. How can the Federal Government assist in returning some of that prosperity to our artists?
We must recognize the important role that artists play and how they benefit our society.

6. Do you support federal investment in Canada’s arts sector?
Yes I do.

a. Does investment in the arts produce a health dividend? An educational dividend? A public safety dividend?
Yes.

b. If elected, would you vote to increase funding to the arts sector through The Canada Council? Through Department of Canadian Heritage?
Yes I would.

c. Do you support provision of stable, adequate, multi-year arts funding?
Yes I do.

The arts play a significant role in my life. I was involved in university theatre and have helped to stage drama in our area.

2. What role do the arts play in keeping people healthy?
They play a manifold role - emotionally, physically, psychologically, spiritually, creatively, etc.

3. Why is it important that Toronto have a healthy arts sector?
For the health of all our communities, especially for the youth in Toronto.

4. Does your party believe that Canadian content and ownership should be protected in our broadcasting industry?
Yes, if that's best for the industry.

5. Our artists help make our society prosperous, yet many of them work and live in relative poverty. How can the Federal Government assist in returning some of that prosperity to our artists?
Training and development.

Yes.

Yes.

b. If elected, would you vote to increase funding to the arts sector through The Canada Council? Through Department of Canadian Heritage?
I'd assess this in the future for realistic funding targets and focus.

c. Do you support provision of stable, adequate, multi-year arts funding?
I'd be willing to examine the idea to understand your proposal.
